27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), 6. – 18.11.2022
The 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) will take place from 6. – 18. November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Under the presidency’s motto “Together for Implementation”, the global community is negotiating raising the ambition of national climate targets (“NDCs”), dealing with climate-related Loss and Damage and climate financing.
The climate conference is facing unprecedented challenges this year. Increasing geopolitical tensions, a global energy crisis and a global food and debt crisis are overlaying the important climate negotiations. The voice of progressive businesses for high ambitions and the commitment to the implementation of climate policies at this year’s COP27 is therefore all the more important.
As an ambassador for the ambitious German economy and as bridge builder between businesses, governments and civil society, Stiftung KlimaWirtschaft – German CEO Alliance for Climate and Economy brings the voice of progressive German companies to COP27. Together we want to show how business in line with the 1.5°C target and the transformation of our economy towards climate neutrality can be achieved with the innovative strength and problem-solving skills of the private sector. What we need now are strong alliances for implementation.
Now is the time to boldly and decisively advance the global energy transition together, to accelerate the international market ramp-up for green hydrogen and thus to create the conditions for the decarbonization of industry in Germany, Europe and internationally.
As the German partner of the We Mean Business Coalition, Stiftung KlimaWirtschaft supports the COP27 WMBC Statement as well as the “Business Pavilion” in the Blue Zone of COP27. Numerous events and meetings involving progressive economic players take place here during the whole time of the conference.
